The Release Point: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Transformation

The Release Point Coaching Process follows an ancient yet timeless arc of transformation known as Severance, Threshold, and Incorporation. Each phase reflects the moment of the archer’s release, when focus, trust, and letting go come together in one fluid motion. It is a practice of awareness, surrender, and integration that mirrors the natural cycles of change.

Severance -‍ ‍Drawing Back the Bow -Every transformation begins with tension, the deliberate act of drawing energy backward before it can move forward. In Severance, we explore what is ready to be released…old patterns, expectations, and identities that no longer serve your growth. This phase is about gathering focus and preparing the ground for what is to come. Through guided reflection, embodied awareness, and nature-based practices, you begin to see what is holding you and what you are ready to let go of. Severance is an act of honoring, a conscious release that creates space for clarity and possibility.

Threshold: The Release Point -The Threshold is the pause between holding and letting go. It is the moment when trust replaces control and presence becomes your guide. Here, you step into the unknown with awareness rather than certainty. Like the archer releasing the string, your energy moves freely when resistance softens. This is where deep connection forms between mind and body, self and nature, intention and movement. It is the living experience of flow, when life begins to move through you rather than be pursued by you. This is where the expected meets the unexpected.

Incorporation: The Arrows Flight & Return - Incorporation is the integration of what has been set in motion. It is the path of the arrow finding its mark, and the practice of bringing new awareness back into daily life. Together, we anchor insights through reflection, ritual, and actionable steps that sustain change over time. This phase is about an embodiment practice; aligning choices, relationships, and rhythms with the deeper truth you’ve uncovered. It completes the arc of transformation and prepares you for new beginnings with steadiness and grace.

The coaching journey often incorporates age-old maps of transformation, the same archetypal patterns described by Joseph Campbell in The Hero’s Journey and Maureen Murdock in The Heroine’s Journey. These frameworks help us recognize where we are always in the natural rhythm of change and to meet those passages with awareness, courage, and reverence.

Depending on the level of agreement between us, I have a number of formats for tracking, measuring and actively collaborating through all stages of the coaching process.
